Week 17

Hi Families!

We hope you're all doing well. Below are the schedules for this week, the link to sign up for Friday 1 on 1 support, and an overview of what's happening in our classes.

2. Optional 1:1 Student Support Fridays:

• We offer one on one student support on Fridays

• This time can be used for extra support with an assignment, going over a missed lesson, checking in assignments, creating a plan for additional work/challenge options, just to talk and get to know each other better, whatever they need

• We have fewer slots available this week to accommodate teacher time to record semester comments

3. What's happening in class:

Math/Science -

• Math: We will continue learning about Angles as well as do our Stewardship project.

• [Computer] Science: We will continue using Code.org and creating art with coding and math.

Humanities -

• Project Work & Socratic Seminar - we will officially launch our next project on 1/19, but we'll be doing some pre-work this week in 7th grade.

• Our next project is called the Student Solutions Summit. It is a whole 7th and 8th grade project that will take the place of our previous Model United Nations project. In this version of the project, students will create coalitions around a community issue that they're interested in. In their coalition, they will learn about the issue, create action plans to help support solutions to the issue, and implement action.

Art -

• Collecting Fabrics (Art Project)

4. Upcoming events and reminders:

• CounSEL - Schoolwide social and emotional support program. This includes weekly videos and discussions that we'll do as a team on Fridays from 9:15-9:45.

• 1/18 - No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)

• 2/12 and 2/15 - No School (Presidents' Day Holiday)

3. En clase este semana:

Matemáticas/Ciencia -

• Matemáticas: Continuaremos aprendiendo sobre Angles y también haremos nuestro proyecto de Stewardship.

• [Computación] Ciencias: Continuaremos usando Code.org y creando arte con codificación y matemáticas.

Humanidades -

• Trabajo de proyecto & Seminario Socrático - lanzaremos oficialmente nuestro siguiente proyecto en 1/19, pero haremos un poco de pre-trabajo esta semana en el 7o grado.

• Nuestro siguiente proyecto es llamado la Cumbre de Soluciones Estudiantil. Es un 7o y 8o proyecto de grado entero que tomará el lugar de nuestro Modelo anterior proyecto de las Naciones Unidas. En esta versión del proyecto, los estudiantes crearán coaliciones en torno a un tema comunitario en el que estén interesados. En su coalición, aprenderán sobre el tema, crearán planes de acción para ayudar a apoyar soluciones al tema, y aplicarán acciones.

4. Próximos eventos y recordatorios:

• Consejo - Programa de apoyo social y emocional en toda la escuela. Esto incluye videos semanales y discusiones que haremos como equipo los viernes de 9:15-9:45. Los tiempos se reflejan en el nuevo horario semanal.
