Looking ahead to week 34

Hi Families!

We hope you're all doing well. Below are the schedules for this week and an overview of what's happening in our classes.

1. Schedules & Hybrid/ Distance Learning Expectations:

2. MAP Testing

• Students will take their end of the year MAP tests for reading and math this week

• These are internal tests that help us understand student growth in these two areas

• Thursday - Math test

• Friday - Reading test

• We won't have Friday 1:1s this week in order to create time for testing.

3. What's happening in class:

Math/Science -

Math:

• We are learning about lines, slope and graphing while playing MUN Trade War.

[Computer] Science

• We finished our Computer Science curriculum and students have chosen their favorite student-created games. Going forward we will focus on wrapping up our Math projects.

Humanities -

• A Rock's Tale Project - This week, we will continue our writer's workshops around poetry and students will write the first draft of their object poem.

Art -

• A Rock's Tale Project - this week, students will focus on symbolism and texture in their mandala designs

• Focus question: How can we use texture to support the story or theme of my Big Concept (object)?

4. Upcoming events/ reminders

• Monday 5/31 - No School (Memorial Day)

2. Pruebas MAP

• Los estudiantes tomarán sus pruebas MAP de fin de año para lectura y matemáticas esta semana

• el viernes - prueba de lectura

• no habrá viernes 1:1s esta semana debido a la prueba

Matemáticas/Ciencia -

Matemáticas:

• Estamos aprendiendo sobre líneas, pendientes y gráficas mientras jugamos a MUN Trade War.

Ciencias [de la Computación]

• Terminamos nuestro plan de estudios de Ciencias de la Computación y los estudiantes han elegido sus juegos favoritos creados por ellos. En el futuro, nos centraremos en concluir nuestros proyectos de matemáticas.

Humanidades -

• Proyecto "A Rock's Tale" - Esta semana, continuaremos los talleres de nuestro escritor en torno a la poesía y los estudiantes escribirán el primer borrador de su poema objeto.

Arte -

• Proyecto "A Rock's Tale" - Los estudiantes crearán la primera iteración de su Mandala para nuestro proyecto. Esta iteración se centrará en el color.
